About

I am a writer at Farm Credit Bank of Texas, a cooperatively owned wholesale bank in the nationwide Farm Credit System. Previously, I had been a food editor, general features writer, copy editor and page designer for daily newspapers and an announcer for a National Public Radio affiliate. My career as a journalist included 18 years at the Austin American-Statesman and six years at the Bryan-College Station Eagle.

When I’m not at work, I report on hyperlocal news for my neighborhood association blog, and follow my passions as a traveler, hiker and home renovation do-it-yourselfer.  I also have experience as a performer and stage manager for nonprofit theater and dance companies, and as a performer in the Society of Professional Journalists’ “Gridiron Show,” a comedy revue that raised money for journalism scholarships.  My interests in history, architecture, science, nutrition, plants and the arts have served me well on the job, too.
