This was a well-written entry that clearly stated the benefits of using solar panels as a means to offset electric costs. This article was meant to highlight the ways that Farm Credit has helped make that happen for two of its members. Excellent article — nothing to improve.

Come Rain or Come Shine won Honorable Mention, Featurette, of the Cooperative Communicators Association’s 2017 contest. Read the story here.

Excellent feature that points out clearly through one family operation why insurance is so important. It takes a light human interest touch to a serious topic and does a good job making the case.

I loved this piece. It’s unusual and inviting, and celebrates an aspect of the lives of co-ops and members that is seen all the time, but that probably most people don’t stop and think about very often. The introduction is strong. I also really liked the tips for co-ops or really anyone to design entrances.
2015 CCA Communications Contest
Going With the Grain won First Place, Informative/Investigative Feature, in the Cooperative Communicators Association’s 2015 contest. Read the story here.

The lead is really lovely and makes me want to read on and learn more about the family. It is clear to me that you were careful about word choice throughout, and that creates a good, strong overall story. … Nice job of telling a complete story but not getting bogged down in the details.

This is an excellent story — it flows together very well and gives the reader all the information she/he needs on this topic. This is one of the best examples I’ve read in terms of putting together the whole package. I loved the historical perspective that led up to their decision to irrigate. I can’t think of anything I’d improve — well done!
